A doula is a caring companion who walks alongside expectant families, providing continuous support and comfort, making sure every step feels filled with love and reassurance.
A doula holds space, provides guidance and non-medical support.
They provide information and resources to help a family make informed decisions.
Some types of support Doulas provide:
physical support | emotional support | informational support | advocacy
advocacy defined as supporting the birthing person in their right to make decisions about their own body and baby. (Evidence Based Birth)
Empowers families to communicate their needs and perceptions and actualize their dream of a healthy, positive birth experience
what is a doula?
The Doula does not take the place of a partner’s role but enhances the experience of birth. This would give a partner the chance to be fully present for birth and supporting their partner.
Why Hire a Doula?
SWEET WILLOW BIRTH
THE MEANING OF THE WILLOW
The Willow Tree
Deep inner knowledge and open-mindedness
Strength, resilience, flexibility, and harmony with nature
Adaptability to difficult circumstances and perseverance through challenging times
Deep cultural connections and history
Spiritual significance associated with healing, intuition, and a powerful symbol in many cultures
The branches water-like movements, growing near water sources (as a fellow water-lover), and the deep roots drawing water deep within the earth provide an essence of resilience, cleansing renewal, and emotional healing
Willow bark has been used medicinally for thousands of years as a natural pain reliever. As willow bark uniquely contains salicin, tea has been made to reduce pain and inflammation, similar to aspirin.
Incredible adaptability to be able to withstand drought and flooding is a symbol for growth, transformation, and deep resilience.
As the roots absorb negative energy and leaves help purify the air, the Willow is an incredible representation of nature’s symbiotic relationships, lead with kindness, love, and intuitive knowing.

“The labyrinth is an ancient and universal symbol representing our journey through life, ordeals, and transitions. Its single, convoluted pathway begins at the opening, leads directly to the center, and then returns along the same path to the outside again. Walking or finger-tracing a labyrinth invokes a sensation of turning inward, then outward -- perhaps reminding us of our first journey from our parent's body into the world.”
Birth as a labyrinth
inclusivity and humility statement
Sweet Willow Birth is dedicated to supporting all people and families regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, age, sexual orientation, ability, or family structure.

I acknowledge that systemic inequalities exist in our healthcare system that predominantly harm people of color and the LGBTQ+ community. I am unable to erase the harmful foundation our healthcare is built on; it is my desire, though, to support and work with you to get the best, safest, most compassionate, and loving care that you absolutely deserve.
With this being said - I am not the right birth worker for everyone.
I am happy to meet and/or recommend someone who would be more aligned with your desires and preferences.
